The Flatwood's Encounter

A small "lamp" project based on the West Virginia Cryptid, The Flatwoods Monster. The head is a red painted ping-pong ball. The eyes glow yellow. The arms are printed in a flexible rubber. The chest and waist are hollow for wire access, and the model sits on a clear stand. Easily my favorite minor project.

Rudolph

Practice using sauntering, 3-D Printing, and Laser-cutting. Grayson Leahy and I scanned my facial features and used Fusion 360 to sculpt into a hollow ornament model with slots for antlers. We had to do some light melting to make the print smooth enough to cover with acrylic. I painted my face to resemble a porcelain doll because I associate porcelain dolls with Christmas.

The Rudolph route was chosen for 2 reasons.

  1. It was the Christmas season. Designing something Christmas themed was the expectation.

  2. In Elementary, my peers humored themselves with my birthmark, which was a perfect red circle in the center of my face. It "glowed" when I was frustrated. Rudolf was on of my nicknames, and I could not play their reindeer games. Ha.

I gifted this to my mom.

BULLDOG OKAYEST.

For the Engineering Woodworking certification, my class had to make a stand for the Forsyth Central Logo using every wood-based tool in the shop. I took some liberties to distinguish mine from the shelf of these, using a play on the Central honor system: Bulldog Best.

THE CAPTAIN'S RIGHT FOOT

For an early Engineering Wood Project, one in which we were given the freedom to build anything, I decided to make a leg. The leg was made entirely from parts feasibly found in pirate cargo. The strips of belt attached to the top ties around the leg and to a belt around the waist. I was able to walk throughout the room wearing it, with a pirate's limp of course.

LOREM IPSUM AWARD

"Presented to Noah Westworld For his outstanding ability to say so much of nothing." For the engineering certification, the recommended project was a plaque. This plaque was designed in Vcarve and gifted to my friend Noah.
